This breast pump starter kit by Playtex was my first breast pump just before my baby was born. Although, I got an electric pump later, I would still like to write something about my first breast pump. I would have to say that it is a very practical pump that every mother can use to learn how to breast pump. When I got hold of it after a couple of uses, I was able to get a rapid and efficient expression in a minimal amount of time. Especially for a manual pump, it came as a great relief to a nervous first-time mother like me who had great misgivings about my breast pumping capabilities. The starter kit has all the necessities for successful breast pumping without dealing with complicated equipment. It’s a very easy to use pump with a combination of gentle massage and suction for good flow of milk and efficiency. Also, this pump can be used with almost all standard bottles so purchasing new bottles especially for this pump is not a concern. For me, this whole kit worked great, I was successful in learning everything about breastfeeding with this particular hand pump, and didn’t experience hand fatigue. When I started working, I got an electric pump for frequent use but nevertheless, I would recommend this pump to all learning mothers.

This Playtex starter kit with a manual pump is the best thing that a new mother can have to learn how to breastfeed. Since I stay at home, I got this as my first pump and I never had to use any other pump. I do have another pump which I use as a back-up but this is my first priority for pumping extra milk for my four month old son. There are a couple of features of this manual pump that have encouraged me to continue using this. Firstly and most importantly is the less hand fatigue that I have to face while using it. Normally, I get tired soon using a manual hand pump but not with this one because of the alternate thumb and angled cup grips. The design is simple and the pump is less complicated than others. Another good benefit is the massage cushion that helps me get a faster let-down and the suction of the pump ensures a smooth milk flow. All of this helps me to pump around 4 to 5 ounces in almost 15 to 20 minutes. Cleaning the pump is pretty easy too, I usually put it in the dishwasher but the parts can be hand-washed as well.
